Adam's news On Tuesday, we made a trip over to Okehampton to play in their Pro-am. As we left Yelverton with my team of Chris Allen (Chri Alan as appeared on the card), Karl Bowen and Graham Lane, we weren’t very hopeful of playing as Yelverton was completely covered in fog! As we pulled up there was no fog in sight but instead relentless rain! I gave up on the idea of wearing my glasses to play in, and after a missed 18 inch putt on the first I knew it was going to be a long day! I have a great interest in golf psychology but I’ve never witnessed the use of the word “Claret Jug” so much in a round of golf to try and jump start a player?! Apparently, Graham Lane reacts well if he knows there’s a trophy on the line, just as he did when he won at Thurlestone recently.
My golf was again very rusty but on one hole I relied on my former boss Mr McSherry to ball spot and he didn’t see it…well I need someone to blame, it wasn’t my massive block off the tee that lost the ball. He did however offer me a lift back to the tee to reload! Anyone with a junior or beginner in the family or friend, feel free to bring them along to take part in our golf access event this Sunday at 3pm. It will be very light hearted and fun playing the short course. With that in mind, please be aware that the practice ground will be closed from midday on Sunday for this event! |
