A big thanks... Thanks to the ‘Yelverton pals golf society’ for supporting us this year again and purchasing their tour shirts from us. The guys decided to make George Graham head up their calendar campaign with George modelling the shirt for them. George did ask for the athletic fit, and I’m sure you will agree it fits like Cinderella’s shoe.

Junior clothing Lauren and I wanted to make sure we stock a nice selection of Junior Golf clothing, as we know that parents find it difficult to get nice golf clothing for their kids but neither of us imagined that adult members would be squeezing into junior sizes too. Darren Malafre surprised us all by purchased a pair of Junior Trousers on Monday. They look great on, but his voice has gone up a few octaves.
|
Coaching The fog did not deter our kids from Junior Coaching on Saturday. We were working on putting technique this week. The girls definitely dominated this week with Tia Kowalski winning the first group on Saturday. Then our second group was won by Florence Wayne! Well done girls! Junior Coaching continues this Saturday 10am - 11am and 11am - 12pm. Bring your children along, any age, any ability! |
|
Caitlin is in America... Caitlin Evans- Brand, a previous Junior of Yelverton Golf Club, is over in America in her second semester as a Freshman at Bethune Cookman University. Caitlin and the team are doing really well and have just set up a Instagram account so now we can follow their team progress @bethunecookmangolf.

Adam's news Now my parents have moved, I’ve been spending my free time back on the range getting ready for this 2019 golf season. Looking forward to seeing what this year can bring. Last year was a bit crazy with taking over the shop and all, but now Lauren is trained up and we have settled in I’ll hopefully be able to do something special this year…watch this space! |
Lauren’s corner Myself, Di Friend and Angela Read played in last week’s Ladies Stableford. It was lovely to get a game with these two girls. There was some lovely straight, consistent golf played, none of which from myself! I had a shocker, I won’t tell you how many points I had. Such a shame as the course conditions were fabulous and the sun was shining, really no excuse! Things improved slightly when I played at East Devon Golf Club on Tuesday. I played with an old friend of mine, Rosemary Pratt. I was striking the ball much better but I couldn’t putt to save my life! And you know what they say…drive for show, putt for dough!

New Rules for 2019……this weeks featured rules for you!
No penalty for a double hit – it only counts as one stroke - Rule 10.1a. No penalty if your ball hits you or your equipment accidentally after a stroke - Rule 11.1a. You cannot have your caddie or your partner standing behind you once you begin taking your stance - Rule 10.2b(4).
|
We all love new golf equipment – be it balls, clubs or shoes; there’s nothing like stepping out onto the course knowing that everything in your bag is in pristine condition. Except, for the majority of golfers, there’s always one thing which is often forgotten about... |
| How old are your grips? |
| Losing control during your swing? |
|
If you pulled a club out of your bag now, what state would your grips be in? You’ll probably notice that they’re at the very least losing some of the tackiness they once had or, in the worst cases, worn away so badly that they’re completely unrecognizable - a clear sign they need to be replaced. The benefits to getting your clubs regripped are huge, and they can even improve your performance. Take the ALIGN grips from Golf Pride; these have a raised edge on the back (red part of grip seen here) to perfect your hand placement every time. |
|
As you can see, we're currently running a promotion where you can get your 7-iron regripped for FREE; all you need to do is pop in-store and decide which of these grips you want to try out. |
