Club news

Club V1

As I’m sure you are all aware now, Yelverton Golf Club is now running on the Club V1. I hope you have all managed to download the ClubV1 App on your phone. This makes looking at future competitions and booking into competitions much simpler along with many other helpful features.

If you’re having any problems with the new system, please do not hesitate to pop into the office where Colin and Sarah can run through things with you.

Members are reminded that the Midweek Stableford Competition is to only be played in a two-ball or a three-ball format.

This Saturday, our gentleman members headed out onto the course to play in the Stableford and Rowse Bowl Cup. Congratulations to John Turfrey, Dave Hyslop, Haydn Jenkins and Jason Grant who all won their respective Divisions with fantastic scores!

We only have one space left for our Mizuno fitting day which is being held on Friday 5th April. If you are looking to treat yourself to a new set of clubs or woods for the new season, then come along and get it right! Gone are the days of just picking clubs off the rack, or ordering a random set from America off eBay! You might as well be playing pin the tail on the donkey.

Adam’s corner

Last week I ventured down to St Enodoc for a morning of short game practice, and then 18 in the afternoon! Unfortunately, since New year, I have been struggling with my back, which I thought was improving! It turned out I still have some underlying issues there which I’m now having treatment on. I’m really keen to be back out playing again but this issue is just stopping me in my tracks at the moment. I will get there! And with The Masters just around the corner, I’m getting golf fever again.

Lauren's corner

Adam and I headed to Bristol on Saturday evening to meet friends of ours, on our way we stopped off at Adam’s favourite place on Earth…Deya Brewery. Needless to say he had a beer or three.

I was really looking forward to heading to St Enodoc on Monday with the Yelverton Ladies organised by Sue Pearman. Unfortunately, the weather had other ideas. It has now been rearranging for Tuesday 26th March.

Local Rules - have been updated to reflect 2019 Rules of Golf, please check the details on the new Scorecard.

As before - Electrified fences surrounding the Greens are Immovable Obstructions. Rule 16.1b applies. If ball strikes the fence of the Green being played, the stroke MAY be replayed.

Pushing the boundaries

Spotlight: Mizuno ST190 drivers

With two driver models to choose from in Mizuno's range, there's one key question that needs to be answered:

Forgiveness or adjustability?

If you're wanting maximum forgiveness we'd start by looking at the ST190, which has a fixed backweight for increased stability. If you have a specific miss (a slice for most club golfers) then we would look at setting up the ST190G to counteract that bad shot.
