Well done Frank... This morning, The Pounders Captain Frank Thomas handed over his crown to Bill Perrott. Well done to Frank for a fantastic 2018 as The Pounders Captain, in fact The Pounders raised £643 for St Lukes Hospital this year. Well done Chaps! Our Yelverton ladies played a Devon League match against Dainton Park on Monday organised by the lovely Mrs Christine Perkins. I’m pleased to say we won 8-6! Congratulations to Teresa Holt and Anna Ashley who are through to the next round of The Daily Foursomes.

Running on empty? If your electric trolley is struggling to make it round 18 holes then it might be time you upgraded its battery. There's been a huge push towards Lithium batteries in recent years as they last longer, charge quicker and are more lightweight than previous Lead Acid equivalents. So, if it's time you change your electric trolley battery, bring your old one in-store and enjoy £25 OFF a brand-new Lithium one. Click here to learn more.

Adam's corner This week, Team Yelverton, consisting of myself, Tim Shobrook, David Parlby and Paul Woods competed in The Cornish Festival. Day one playing at St Enodoc, Day two at Trevose and finishing off at The Point at Polzeath. Let’s hope the weather holds up as these courses will show their teeth in bad conditions. You can follow our progress by clicking here. |
Lauren's corner Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of playing in The Dame Hannah Rogers Stableford with Teresa Holt and Annie Hosken. I had such an enjoyable round of golf but unfortunately, the golf left a little to be desired. On Sunday, I played at East Devon in Budleigh Salterton. I was really enjoying the golf and I felt that I had my rhythm back which I haven’t been feeling of late. Yes! For the first nine holes, I was loving it! ‘Lauren, you are Georgia Hall’. Then the back-nine came and I crashed back down to earth with an almighty bump. Let’s hope I can channel my inner Georgia Hall for 18 holes when I play with Sue Pearman in this week’s Ladies Medal.

This week’s Local Rules 2019 Immovable Obstructions - Anywhere on the course, except when a ball is in a Penalty Area, relief under Rule 16.1a is allowed from anything artificial (man-made), including artificial surfaces, paths, bridges, granite posts and irrigation apparatus. Exceptions to above - to be fair there is no relief under Rule 16.1:
- When it is clearly unreasonable to play the ball as it lies because of something other than an Immovable Obstruction, e.g. a gorse bush, or,
- When interference exists only because a player chooses a club, type of Stance or swing or direction of play that is clearly unreasonable under the circumstances.

Boa constrict your footwear |
There's been two major trends in the golf footwear market in recent years: the first is the surge in spikeless shoes, and the other is Boa. So, what actually is the Boa Fit System and is it anything to do with snakes? |
| FootJoy UltraFIT Boa golf shoe
|
|
No, it's nothing to do with snakes. Phew. Rather, the Boa Fit System has revolutionized footwear for the better and we absolutely love it. Instead of using traditional laces, Boa utilises a steel wire (virtually unbreakable) that is effortlessly tightened via an easy-to-use dial strategically placed on the shoe (seen above). To loosen, simply pull out the dial and open up at the tongue. |
With FootJoy's UltraFIT Boa, which is available in-store now, you will be guaranteed a comfortable fit every time safe in the knowledge that your laces will not come undone or get tangled throughout your round. If you haven’t already experienced Boa, then we implore you to come down to the store and try on this fantastic option today - no obligation. |
