Gilly Jarvis took second place with 39 points, and in third place was David James freshly back from Spain with 39 points on countback. Sunday, 19 May saw the inaugural match for Yelverton in Division three of the Dartmoor league when we took on Bovey Castle at home. The team of: Mike Ayres, Lance Doggart, Brad Richardson, Andy Jenkins, Ian Scott, Paul Cunningham, Bryan Gullick, Mike Pearce, Jim Stein and Joe Bracher.
Had a great mix of youth, experience and combinations of low and high handicap players. After a great tussle, we prevailed three and half to one and a half. Choosing a team from the 20 or so players in the squad was difficult with so many keen and dedicated players offering themselves for selection. This result is a very encouraging start for us and was achieved of the back of three practice sessions and a great team spirit within the score of squad members. |
