Last week's runners and riders...
The weather held up last weekend to allow us to go ahead with the Men’s Winter Stableford which played over Saturday and Sunday. Seb Treglown took top stop in Division 1 with 35 points, in 2nd place was Paul Hendy with 33 points and in 3rd place with 32 points was Andrew Price. In Division 2 Steve Seward was 1st with 34 points, Paul Merrin was 2nd with 33 points and in 3rd place was David Hyslop with 32 points.
Andy Thompson took 1st place in Division 3 with 36 points, 2nd place went to Phil Kilpatrick with 34 points and in 3rd place with 33 points was Michael Powell. Finally, in Division 4, Luke Stonehouse scored 38 points, scooping him 1st place. Peter Gregory took 2nd place ocb with 38 points and in 3rd place with 36 points was Alan Russell.
On Sunday, the quarter finals of The South West Winter Foursomes was played. Congratulations to all of our competitors who qualified for the Semi Finals. Ian Verner & Des Carty will play Stuart Bazneh & Danny Murphy and our Secretary, Colin Nolan and his partner Mair Preston – Jones will play Richard Woods and M. Penlington of Dainton Park. Great to see a strong Yelverton Presence in the Semi Finals which will be played on the 12h January 2020!
On Tuesday, our Midweek Stableford was played and Kevin Blaber took 1st place with 37 points, in 2nd place was David Flewin with 36 points and in 3rd place with 35 points was Michael Hicks.

Escaping the winter...
Last week, 11 Yelverton players decided to dodge the Dartmoor rain by taking part in the La Cala Golf World Open which was held in sunny Spain. The event involved 140 players from numerous countries which included 4 days of golf. Although none of the Yelverton players featured in the main prizes, Bill Perkins was successful in winning a draw for a trip to St Andrews, including 2 rounds of golf. Pictured below is Mr Bill Perkins clearly delighted at winning his prize and a picture of the Yelverton players.

The countdown is now on...
It has been crazy busy here over the weekend without Black Friday deals. We are pleased to say that I think we have supplied most of Yelverton Golf Club with their Christmas presents. On Wednesday of next week, we have the opportunity from our friends at PING to specifically order clubs in for you to try, which is particularly advantageous for our left-handed golfers as I know lefties struggle to get demo clubs for their dexterity.
We are able to get out hands on wedges, driving irons, hybrids and woods for 1 week only. Make sure you let us know what you would like to try out in advance of Wednesday 11th December, so we can ensure that we have the club here which you wish to try out.

Growing the game!
There was a fantastic turn out for last weekend’s Junior Coaching and Golf Access. A few of our Junior have now completed their Golf Access on the short course and have moved onto the main course. Its s great to see them coming along so well and keeping things up ready for the 2020 golf season.
Our Junior Turkey Trot takes place on Sunday. It will be a great day out for all the family, why not bring a friend that may be interested in golf? Please be aware that the Juniors have the tee on the mains course from 12-1.30pm

Adam's Corner
Looking forward to a round of golf today at Yelverton with The Vets in the annual Christmas Meeting. I have been drawn with a great team, Ray Bennett, Tony Williams and Tony Chilvers. I have never played with these chaps so it will be a great opportunity to get to know them a little better away from the shop.
With regards to tournament play, I head to Saunton Golf Club for The Devon PGA Alliance tomorrow. Let’s hope the weather holds up and that is one course that you don’t want to be playing in the wind and rain.

Lauren’s Corner
Our Christmas lights will be going up this weekend, looking forward to getting the tree out the garage and getting both our shop tree up and our tree at home. I have just purchased our Christmas jumpers so prepare for things getting super festive here a Yelverton Golf Club over the next week.
I was pretty traumatised with my golf in the South West Winter Foursomes (so was Adam), so I have decided not to worry about it until the new year. In January I have decided to set a few hours aside per week and hit some balls to stay on track. Coach Frayne has told me what is required, I just need to put the woman hours in now to get the swing on point. But for now, let’s focus on Christmas.

Matt’s Corner I played in The Devon PGA Professionals at Thurlstone Golf Club Last week and I was pleased with the way I played and managed to finish 5th shooting 3 over par.
I had been kindly invited to play in today’s Vets Christmas meeting. I have the pleasure of playing with, Alan moulton, John Goad and Sud! Let’s hope we can be a dream team and win some goodies for Christmas. I head to Saunton Golf Club tomorrow to play in The PGA Alliance where I will be partnering Yelverton member, Darren Mallafre, so hopefully I can continue my form from last week.

Relief for Your Ball in Temporary Water in a Bunker marked GUR
The Greens team identify and mark most flooded Bunkers, either fully or partially as Ground Under Repair (GUR).
If fully marked GUR, you are entitled to take free relief outside the bunker, either back-on-line or in a marked Drop Zone. If partially marked GUR, you are entitled to take free relief inside the Bunker, nearest point of complete relief not nearer the hole.
If there is no nearest point of complete relief in the bunker, you may still take relief by using the point of maximum available relief not nearer the hole inside the bunker as the reference point.
