Use of Distance measuring devices (DMDs) - Rule 4.3a Some of you may have received shiny new DMDs for Christmas, so a few words about their use. The important thing to remember is that DMDs, such as - GPS, laser or smart phone are allowed to enable players to get information on only distance or direction. Measuring either elevation changes or wind speed would be a breach of the Rule. Even if a device has the ability to provide prohibited information, a player is still only in breach of Rule 4.3a(1) if they use the device to access the prohibited information. So before you next play, make sure that prohibited features on your DMDs are either disabled or switched off. Penalty for first breach - General Penalty of 2 strokes, for second breach - Disqualification. |
